Excess demand from it department

21 August 2012 Dear Team,

Assessment year 2008-09 the income had filed of Rs. 3,35,011 where the taxable income came after all deductions was Rs. 2,18,380 thus the tax payable arrived at Rs. 14,601 which had been deducted from employer as TDS.

Similar to above, Assessment year 2009-10 the income had filed of Rs. 3,68,652 where the taxable income came after all deductions was Rs. 2,40,260 thus the tax payable arrived at Rs. 6,207 which had been deducted from employer as TDS.

Now the income tax department has sent with sub: Arrear demand in your case-verification-reg. , stating that there is a arrear of Rs. 28,433 (AY 2008-09 is Rs. 11,700 & AY 2009-10 is Rs. 16,733) for two year where as the tax has already been paid for the respective years.

In this case what are the ways to come out with this issues and how we can rectify the same with proper way. Kindly suggest me in this regards.

21 August 2012 This issues has been faced by many assessees. An arrear demand notice has been served on the assessee due to some technical fault in the database.

In such case, you are required to personally visit your assessing officer with all the documents and request him to remove the demand.
