eligibility and suitability to become a tax consultant

I have done M.A Economics.
Is it possible for me to become a tax consultant ( start my own work after working for some years under an experienced tax consultant )? Am I eligible for it ? What do I need for eligibility ?

I have some very basic general awareness of tax ( from newspapers )and find it interesting.

Also , what qualities make some one a good
tax consultant ?

In order to be a good tax consultant and in order to do exceedingly well in your tax consultancy career, you should possess a few qualities.

 should have various skills
 ability to think differently,
 a creative mind,
 should be sharp minded,
 should have good communication skills,
 should have good and updated general awareness,
 abundant knowledge about the taxation sector and the market and you should also be able to work in a team

The job of the tax consultant is to help their clients or companies which they are working for to understand and get adequate knowledge of the national, local as well as international tax structures. Their job also includes helping and providing complete assistance to their clients in their fundamental tax planning. In order to do this task, complete analysis should be done.

A tax consultant’s job is to understand the business of the company they work in and help the organization in optimizing its tax position as well as identifying and mitigating various risk areas. The job of the tax consultant also includes co coordinating with various heads from different divisions and departments such as Strategic Tax Advisory Team, Earnings & Profits department, Tax Accounting Services department, Inventory Strategies, Improvements and Solutions department and many others.
