is it mean BSR Code of the bank branch mentioned in Form 16A.

05 August 2012 It means a special number auto-generated while converting the downloaded Form 16A Zip file from NSDL's TIN website into
a pdf file.

In no way it is meant to be BSR Code.

05 August 2012 No. It has nothing to do with BSR code. From last year, the procedure sought to be followed was to get the TAN registered with NSDL. After filing the TDS returns.... form 16 and form 16A shall be generated by NSDL site. But very few people paid attention to this. That is the reson this field is not made mandatory in this year's ITR

if i want to trace this , to whom i communicate?
If tax deductor,which paper i have to ask?

05 August 2012 This is appearing only in the cases of form 16 and 16A downloaded from the NSDL. As i said, many of the employers and deductors have not regostered under NSDL and hence do not have any such unique number.
