Normally what is the effective date of any notification? There is a notification (No. 12/2011-Central Excise (N.T.))regarding assessible value for the purpose of excise of hosiery goods dated 24.03.2011. As per the notification, Assessible value for the purpose of excise shall be 45% of MRP instead of 60%. I want to know the effectifive date of this notification. Is it applicable on and after 24.03.2011 or after 24.03.2011(i.e. from 25.03.2011)? please help me.

this is not a notification itself, its amendment to notification no 20/2001 CE(NT) dt 30/04/2001, which was effective from 1st may 2001
