hi i need to clarify doubt in cenvat tell me with example what is cenvat

Cenvat is the credit of tax which can be claimed (subject to certain conditions) while discharging tax liability.
eg. If a service provider is availing any services and inturn paying service tax , the sercice tax collected from his client can be set-off against already paid service tax
