07 August 2015 No its not mandatory to make payment of dividend to preference share holders.
But if company declare dividend to equity share holders then will give first to preference share holders.

Can you give link of section or rule whereby i can refer that it is not compulsory to declare dividend.
If dividend is not compulsory than what is benefit to preference shareholders.
