Defective return

i have received notice of defective return for ay 2014-15 stating that wrong selection of itr form.
weather have any penalties for that.?
pls. suggest me how can i get rid of that.

file a new correct itr with correct details in it in correct selected itr

Rahul. normally if happens when you use ITR-1 in place of ITR-2 or use ITR4s in place of ITR4.
