Deduction under section 80d

This query is : Resolved

05 August 2011 Can any one please answer from which Assessment Year Did the Deduction available u/s 80D Change from Rs. 15000 to Rs.20000 for senior citizens (Specifically For Non resident)

05 August 2011 As per explanation to section 80D(4) senior citizen should be resident in India. In the query, status of that person is non-resident,therefore, first part of the query is left open.

05 August 2011 But The officer has still allowed Rs. 15000 and has disallowed Rs. 5000 claimed as extra deduction u/s 80D for AY 2008-09. So want to confirm whether the Deduction can be cliamed of Rs. 20000 or Rs.15000??

05 August 2011 Any way, the enhanced deduction of Rs. 20,000 is effective from 1/4/2009 vide finance act,2008 meaning thereby applicable from assessment year 2009-10 onwards.
