We are importing some products with HS code 71179010. Kindly help me with the customs duty for the same. Also should we be registered with central excise for importing these products. Kindly help me with the structure for duty like...

Value = ******
Basic Customs Duty = %?
Educational Cess = %?
Secondary Edu Cess = %?
Other taxes if there are = %?

this item occurs in limitation jewelery of base metal .

and RITC HS CODE 71179010 OCCURS IN "BANGLE"
IMPORT DUTY IS :-

BCD:-10%, CVD:-4%, , CESS:-.44%,
TOTAL 14.968%

CVD BY 5/5006-CE DATED 01.03.2006 , ACD BY NOTIFICATION NO. 20/06-CUSTOM DT. 01.03.2006.

Hope this is the way I should calculate.

Value = 1000.00
Basic = 100.00
CVD = 4.00
Cess = 1.76

Also what is the VAT on these products

25 January 2011 I Would like to inform you that Import duty is calculated on the type of goods, their value and their country of origin.

after checking i found no vat applied as per custom tariff 2010-11.
