As per Regulation 36 of CA Regulation, 1988:

A candidate for the Foundation Examination (CPT) shall ordinarily be declared to have passed the examination if he obtains at one sitting minimum of 40 per cent marks in each paper and a minimum of 50 per cent of the total marks of all the papers.
