06 November 2015 It is the total cost of transport required for tonnage transport for kms travelled.
For eg
If someone wants to transport 10 tonnes of material through any transport means lets say a truck for a distance of 100kms.
Suppose the total charges of Truck (including fuel, service charges, tolls, etc) are Rs5,000/-
Then we can say that the cost per tonne per km is 5000/10 tonnes/100 kms = Rs5/-
