Yes.
It is mandatory to have "Private limited" for those companies which are incorporated as private limited companies, it shall have restriction as mentioned in Sec 3(1)(iii) of Companies Act, 1956.
A public company means a company which is not a pvt company.
It is decided at the time of registration of the company itself.
You cannot end with the name limited for Private limited companies.
