How to change From ITR1 to ITR4.
In the FY 2008-09 my income was from Salary so I filed my Return in ITR1. Now in the FY 2009-10 I have income from Profession so I need to file my return in ITR4.
My question is whether I should directly file the ITR4 or is there any correspondence to be made with the department before filing the ITR4?

You can directly file ur return in ITR - 4 if last years return was filed in normal ward.
However if earlier u had filed in salary ward then u will need to file a letter to transfer ur case papers from salary ward to general ward.
