12 October 2010 Mr. A (citizen of a foreign country) came into India on 01-07-2009 for employment purpose.

No doubt, his residential status for the financial year 2010-11 shall be 'Person Resident in India'.

I want to know, what shall be his residential status for the period 01-07-2009 to 31-03-2010?

12 October 2010 For the finacial year 09-10, he is not fulfilling any basic condition required for resident and ordinarily resident ( 182 days in p. year or 60 days in p year with 365 days in last 4 years )

So he is non-resident for the year 09-10
