23 February 2013 We want to know the procedure for cancellation of TAN number allotted. As business was closed down in july-2012, we have filed the TDS quarterly returns till 31-12-2012. Please also specify the documents required for these procedure.

23 February 2013 For this you have to write an application to your jurisdictional AO (TDS) TAN , preferably on your letter head or on plain paper. The AO may inquire about the genuineness of the applicant. So, produce copy of PAN Card and TAN No. Certificate along with the application citing the reasons.

Rest procedure is being handled by him by entering into the TAN System and by selecting the relevant option of "TAN Close".
