Can we adjourn a board meeting after passing a resolution?

can we pass a board resolution and adjourn the same meeting (on some other day)

And pass another(second) resolution on adjourned meeting.
Pls clarify

25 October 2011 Yes You can, The board meeting can be adjourned by passing a board resolution.
But the same can be adjourned to the
Next week
Same Time
Same Place
Which is not a Public Holiday

Adjourned meeting will not be reckoned for the purpose of minimum number of the meetings. As the adjourned meeting is the mere continuation of the original meeting.

i would like to further know,can we adjourned the meeting on a fixed date (e.g. let's say after 2 weeks or on particular date)
and how many time we ca adjourn the board meeting..

25 October 2011 No. The meeting SHALL only be on the Next week which is not a public holiday.If it happens to be a public holiday the succeding day which is not a public holiday.

So some other date cannot be fixed.

You can adjourne any number of the time.There is no specific prohibition.

This section equally applies to the Private company as well as the public company.
