What is the difference between beneficial ownership and legal ownership? And what is the difference between beneficial holder of shares and registered holder of shares?

the person whose name is entered into register of shareholders is the legal owner of the shares. the beneficial owner is the person who though don't hold the shares legally but enjoys the benefit through a conduit. The conduit could be trusts, transfers without consideration etc.
