What is audit sampling??? can u answer me in detail??????

Audit sampling is a technique in which small samples are checked out of a big population.
Audit sampling technique is used in case of vouching.
say for example,you are auditing the books of a charitable trust and you have to check the receipts of donations which are nearly 5000 receipts throughout the year. now due to the large volume of work and constraint of time you should select a few samples from these 5000 receipts( say for example 800-900). now your decision for the 5000 receipts will depend upon your checking of the samples.
