how many attempts can we give by paying registration fees once. someone said that we cn give only four attempts, if we failed we have to pay registration fees again.....

No restriction as such.
A. The maximum no. of attempts one can give with one registration no. is "FIVE"
B. Moreover, to extend the attempts, one has to pay the re-registration fees or has an option to re-register itself with new new registration no. altogether.

at present no limits for attempts.
and a notification for attempts is pending for approval of central govt.
and if it approved,
CPT - re-validate after 3 years,
PCC/IPCC - re-validate after 4 years and
Final - re-validate after 5 years
