Can we appoint daughter in law of brother of a Director as an Independent Director of the Company?
Please provide your suggestions with reference, if any.

Daughter in law of Director's brother is not a 'relative' as per section 2(77)iii) read along with rule 4 of the Co's (Specification of Definition Details)Rules,2014. So, prima facie, she can be an independent director provided conditions as in 149 (6)is fully complied with.
