06 July 2011 In case of a company commencing manufacturing of excisable product for the first time in current year what excise rules are applicable to them? Do they get SSI status in the first year of manufacture? And what are the due dates applicable to them? Please reply urgently.

11 July 2011 It maybe teh right time to read the introduction chapter of Central Excis emade easy which is available in the files section on this site.
For specified products 150 lakhs exemption is available in the year of starting to manufacture. Once they reach 90 lakhs they are to intimate the Dept. Normally once one reaches Rs. 140 L or so the registration is applied and taken.
