13 July 2013 An assesse has purchased a new plant and machinery during previous year 2012-13 which is eligible for additional depreciation.... "Assessee does not want to claim additional depreciation " Whether assesse can do so?

13 July 2013 Yes only for additional depreciation he can refrain from availing it when he is eligible.

But for normal depreciation he doesnt have any such option.

Because

Provision related to Additional depreciation was in Section 32(1)(iia)

Please refer Explanation 5 to subsection (1) of Section 32 ..it says "provisions of this subsection" is mandatory as provisions of additional depreciation also contained in subsection 1 of sec.32 Additional depreciation is mandatory
