01 February 2012 What are the conditions for applicability of academic allowance exemption?

Can I claim for the expenses incurred on higher studies for myself if the same is being shown in the salary slip as one of the head?

Expecting an early response to avoid deducting TDS from my Salary of Jan'11.

Section.10(14) Academic, research or training allowance granted in
educational or research institutions.

Academic and training related to your career related area and work related areas allowed as deduction. it can be shown in payslip. but payable against the submission of actual expenses

02 February 2012 Section 10(14) as per the wordings it seems that it is allowed only if the same is granted in educational or research institutions and provided by employer?

is this intepretation correct...?

02 February 2012 No. My typo error. it is not only in educational institutions it can be other employer also.
