The sec 44AA says profession of accountancy not eligible for 44ad. Does it cover person who also render services like account writing, write books of accounts in tally etc? Are such people called professionals ?else its only CAs

yes there are many professionals who are not ca but called income tax practitioners allowed by income tax dept are also included in sec 44AA.

I don think so. Accounting profession they r not liable for TDs as 194 j either. Act means CA professionals

Can u provide any reference ? For eg doctor nursing home can be treated for 44 ad only doctors r professional . professionals means governed by qualification with certificate from recog body
While you can take an alternative view that the term "accountant" wherever defined in the act ie section 288(2) refers only to chartered accountants. Therefore, accountancy should be seen only as an extension of the term accountant.
Nevertheless, 194J shall still apply as 194J has no reference to 44AA but to the generic term "profession" as defined in section 2.
