what will the value of share stocks in balance sheet

10 March 2011 dear sir, please let me know that in balance sheet of a Individual on 31st March i am to show Investment in Shares : I am confused about vale of share stocks in balance sheet , 1. Should I take purchase cost or 2. Should I take market value as on 31st March.

If purchase cost is to be taken then can I include brokerage & other charges i.e. taxes etc. in cost of shares in balance sheet.

Please help me ... it very urgent.
