What are the medical expenses that can be claimed

My friend's wife is a retired Govt official. She is 75 years old.She is getting pension.She is also getting rent from house property. She has undertaken gone heart operation. she is now taking medicines as advised by doctors and is periodically meeting doctors for check up for which she is paying consultation charges.She is paying periodically for various medical expenses as outpatient. Pl clarify whether she is eligible to get exemption under any of the sections of incometax? if yes,pl also clarify under what section she can claim exemption and upto what limit. Your clarification can help lot of senior citizens. Pl oblige.

U/s 80DDB upto 40000 can be claimed subject to conditions.
