If New syllabus Come in to effect then what about gmcs course for old syllabus students Those Who have completed ITT,OP and 1 year of article trainging and not completed gmcs-1 Course - Whether they will be given exemption from doing gmcs-1 course or gmcs course will be abolished? If they will be given exemption whether they can appear directly in AICITSS In my opinion the proposed ICITSS course is equivalent to (ITT,OP and partially GMCS-1) . If Students get converted in to new syllabus(Automatically/Conventionally) and have completed ITT,OP and 1 year of article trainging and not completed gmcs-1 Course-Whether again they have to appear for ICITSS course?

Dispensation of GMCS-I by merging its syllabus with Orientation Course for 15 days (90 hours) - (14-06-2016) The Council has decided to dispense with the General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) – I Course and merge its syllabus with Orientation Programme. Hence forthwith, it will be known as Orientation Course. Accordingly, it has been decided to conduct an Orientation Course with a duration of 15 days (90 hours) with the following modalities:
Students enrolling to the batches commencing from July 1, 2016 onwards would be required to undergo Orientation Course for 15 days in accordance with the new syllabus and new guidelines.
The fee for 15 days Orientation Course will be Rs.7,000/- (Rupees seven thousand only).
Students registered for practical training on or after May 1, 2012 (since the date of commencement of GMCS-I) till December 31, 2014 would be required to undergo GMCS-I uptill December 31, 2016, if not done earlier. Rest all categories of the students who have already completed Orientation Programme (35 hours) are not required to do GMCS-I and will be deemed to have fulfilled the aforestated requirements.
The nomenclature of GMCS-II would be changed to GMCS which the students would be mandatorily required to undergo before applying for membership of the Institute. The aforestated decision would be made applicable for the students w.e.f. July 1, 2016.

Here’s a clear summary of what happened with the **GMCS (General Management and Communication Skills) course** after the new syllabus changes in 2016:
---
### What changed for GMCS course after new syllabus came into effect?
* The **GMCS-I course was abolished** as a separate course. * Its **syllabus was merged with the Orientation Programme**, which now became a **15-day (90 hours) Orientation Course**. * Students **enrolling from July 1, 2016 onwards** have to undergo this new **Orientation Course** only. * The fee for this Orientation Course is Rs. 7,000/-.
---
### What about students under the old syllabus?
* Students who registered for practical training **between May 1, 2012 and December 31, 2014** and **haven’t completed GMCS-I yet**:
* They are **required to complete GMCS-I by December 31, 2016**. * Students who have already completed the old Orientation Programme (35 hours) are **exempted from doing GMCS-I**. * GMCS-II was renamed simply as **GMCS**, which students must complete before applying for ICAI membership.
---
### Practical impact:
* If you had completed **ITT (Integrated Test of Theory), OP (Orientation Programme), and one year of articles training** but not GMCS-I, you still had to complete GMCS-I by the deadline if you fell in the affected batch. * For new students (post July 2016 batch), you just do the new Orientation Course instead of GMCS-I. * ICAI made this change to simplify the training structure.
