It is not true that "in banks only reference matters". Your reading of the situation is incorrect.
Further, with your dual qualifications, what work do you want? Is it as a CA or as a Company secretary? One of them has to be your main job. Be clear in that.
Finally, apply to the banks through their websites.

It looks like you're sharing a conversation where someone is asking for **references to get a job in banks**, and there's a debate about how important references really are for banking jobs, especially for someone with CA and CS qualifications.
Here’s a brief summary and advice related to your shared text:
---
### About Getting References for Bank Jobs (Especially in Kolkata):
1. **Is Reference Essential?**
* It’s a common belief that references help, especially in competitive sectors like banking. * However, official recruitment in banks is usually done through **public exams (like IBPS, SBI PO)** or online applications. References can sometimes help, but they are not a guaranteed or official entry route.
2. **Applying via Official Channels:**
* It’s best to regularly apply through the bank’s **official websites** and participate in entrance exams. * Keep updating your resume and LinkedIn profiles. * Networking can help, but it’s not the only way.
3. **Focus on Your Strengths:**
* With your CA qualification, focus on roles where your skills are valuable — like risk management, finance, audit, compliance in banks. * Tailor your resume to highlight these skills.
4. **Networking Tips:**
* Attend banking/finance seminars, job fairs, or local professional meetups in Kolkata. * Connect with alumni or professionals in the banking sector. * Use LinkedIn to reach out politely to people working in your target banks.

### If you want a **reference or referral:**
* Be clear and professional when requesting referrals. * Share your resume, your skills, and how you can add value to the bank. * Don’t just ask for “a reference” without context; show genuine interest in the role and the company. * Building a relationship over time is often more effective than a one-time ask.
