03 August 2025 Exactly! When a proprietorship firm is converted into a partnership firm, you cannot use the old proprietorship TIN for the partnership firm under VAT rules. You need to apply for a new VAT registration and get a new TIN in the name of the partnership firm.
VAT registration is tied to the legal entity, so any change in business structure requires fresh registration.
