26 June 2013 i want to know the vat rate applicable on restaurant's bill in different states of india and the assessable value on which such vat will be levied.

28 June 2013 Most of the states offer special rates of composition for hotel(non-star hotels)business say 5%.This is also common for bakeries and sweet meat stalls.....mjk

01 July 2013 sir but my problem is that whenever we go to an eating spot or a restaurant, they charge as much vat as they wish and are thereby creating black money and fooling the customer..so i wish to know the exact rates in every state for vat so that i can myself compute my vat payable even before my bill arrives and ultimately dont get deceived.
