Unit of Measurement under Central Excise reg-

28 May 2011 I wish to know that unit of measurement mentioned in Central Excise Tarrif are mandaory or nor. Suppose Chaper Heading 9032 90 00 unit of Measurement is defined in KG as per tarrif. But infact this is a smal product and can't be procured in KG. It will be procured in unit.
Is this to be procured in KG mandatory as per excise rule? also provide some references.

9032 10 10 --- For refrigerating and air-conditioning u 16%
appliances and machinery
9032 10 90 --- Other u 16%
9032 20 - Manostats:
9032 20 10 --- For refrigerating and air-conditioning u 16%
appliances and machinery
9032 20 90 --- Other u 16%
- Other instruments and apparatus:
9032 81 00 -- Hydraulic or pneumatic u 16%
9032 89 -- Other:
9032 89 10 --- Electronic automatic regulators u 16%
9032 89 90 --- Other u 16%
9032 90 00 - Parts and accessories kg. 16%

01 June 2011 depends on manufacturer and his declaration to department,
as per his declaration to department, he is free to change the unit of measurement.
