Dear Sir,
A partnership firm having business of whole seller of hosiery goods and turnover of around Rs. 25.00 Lacs whether it is compulsory for them for VAT Registration.
Please suggest at the earliest. Your reply would be helpful.

Each state set limit for VAT Registration. Some state fixed upto 8 lakhs exempt from taking registeration. 25 lakhs turnover than business has to obtain compulsory VAT registration.

IN THE WEST BENGAL VALUE ADDED TAX ACT, 2003 & THE WEST BENGAL VALUE ADDED TAX RULES, 2005 Taxable quantum for compulsory registration raised—Section 10 and section 14 have been amended so that the threshold limit of turnover of sales or contractual transfer price for compulsory registration has been raised from rupees five lakh to rupees ten lakh w.e.f. 01.04.2015.
