What is the procedure for making the application to the Stock Exchange for trading of the listed shares?

a person can not trading direct with exchange. You should register with a broker.
In india many stock brokers are available like:
1.Indiabulls
2. Anandrathi
3. sharekhan
4. indiainfoline etc.
You need to open a demat and a trading a/c.
In demat a/c share are keep in electronic form and by trading a/c you can sale or purchase of stocks.
To open a demat and trading a/c you need following documents:
1. PAN CARD
2. Address proof
3. Identity proof
4. A bank account with check book
5. 3-5 photographs
