Tds paid under wrong section

15 April 2014 Question:Can TDS paid under wrong section be adjusted?
Answer:Though such adjustment is not possible as per law.But the TDS CPC staff confirmed the same .They said that TDS paid under any section can be adjusted with the TDS payable under any other section by the same deductor.

I request other experts to share there opinion on the same.

15 April 2014 you can always correct the challan and rectify the mistake by filling correct challn with correct tds section.

15 April 2014 sir the file which you shared talks aout correction of challan.

15 April 2014 in this case i would suggest you to meet the concerned Jurisdictional AO (TDS Range).
