04 November 2009 Should we take the PAN of Booking agent(who is not the owner of the vehicle through which Transportation is made but only the agent whom we have contracted for transportation) as the payment will be made to Booking agent eg: If I hire 'XYZ Transport' for Transportation of goods but XYZ Transport is not the owner of the vehicle but merely the agent between me and the vehicle owner. But I will make the payment of transportation to XYZ Transport as he is the agent. So my query is whose PAN should I take for application of new rule of NIL rate TDS w.e.f 1-10-2009?

You have to take PAN No of the Agent, As you are basicaly dealing with the agent.

He can send any vehicle owner to take goods from your doorsteps, so it is totally illogical to demand PAN from the Driver or the owner of the vehivcles
