02 September 2013 I am a salaried individual and paying Rs.3,60,000 p.a. to my father as rent for the residential flat in which i reside. My father is a senior citizen and self employed but his annual income is below taxable limit after making eligible investments and deductions. My question is do i need to deduct TDS on rent paid to my father. What procedures do i need to follow for this.

02 September 2013 yes tds needs to be deducted as it exceeds rs
1,80,000 and ur dad must issue u form 16-tds certificate after downloading from traces website.

04 September 2013 TDS not applicable to salary individuals,,
.
.
more over it is payment and personal in nature,,
.
.
NO NEED TO WORRY,,NO TDS APPLICABLE UNDER ANY SECTION
.
.
AT THE SAME YOUR DAD ALSO NOT REQUIRED TO ISSUE ANY TDS CERTIFICATE
