Tds on monthly food bill

11 October 2013 Is it mandatory to deduct tds from monthly food bill ,The lunch as well as dinner are served to the workers .The monthly bill is approximately Rs.30000 and served by an individual with out charging any Tax.

If payment make to individuals/HUF – 1% (SC-NIL, EC & SHEC-NIL)

If payment make to other person – 2% (SC-NIL, EC & SHEC-NIL)

12 October 2013 Firstly there should be a contract with the 3rd party then it will be covered by sec 194C and rates as given above will be applicable.

13 October 2013 No need to deduct tds if raw material is not being provided by the consumer, because in such situation it is simply purchase of food
