09 November 2009 DEAR ALL,
COULD YOU PLS. LET ME KNOW THE DUE DATE OF TDS DEPOSITION, IF IT IS HOLIDAY ON 6TH OR 7TH DAY OF MONTH.
WILL 8TH TO BE COSIDER THE DUE DATE OR WE SHOULD DEPOSIT THE TDS ON 5TH AS THE 6TH AND 7TH IS GOVT. HOLIDAY.

09 November 2009 CBDT has clarified in its Circular No 678 of January 14, 1994, that if the last date for payment is a holiday, Section 10 of the General Clauses Act, 1897 will be applicable and, accordingly, the assessee can make the payment on the next immediately following working day and, in such cases, the mandatory interest leviable under Sections 234B and 234C would not be charged.
