26 August 2008 Hello,

I just want to know what is the due date for deposit of TDS? e.g If I deduct TDS on 30th April 2008 and depsoit the same on 07th May 2008 through cheque which got cleared on 10th May 2008. Am I defaulter in deposit of TDS or not.

26 August 2008 Mr. Dashrath,

I would like to confirm that whether I am defaulter in deposit of TDS or not on the above condition. As, I have deposit the cheque in HSBC Bank on 7th but it got cleared on 10th so what is the status i.e. on due date or defaulter

The date of deposit the cheque deemed to be the date of payment if the cheque is realise.

26 August 2008 Two processes are involved in the deposit of TDS in govt account. These are:

1. Tendering of Cheque with the relavant challan
2. Realisation of money by the collecting bank against the said cheque.

The deductor is resolved of his responsibility if the cheque is tendered in due time.
