Here’s a clear breakdown for your client’s TDS default payment situation:
---
### 1. **Amount to be paid:**
* If the notice says the **total amount due is ₹13,500**, that typically includes:
* The original TDS amount, * Interest for late payment, * And any penalty or fees (if applicable).
* **Your client needs to pay the full ₹13,500** as per the notice to clear the default.
* If there is no extra interest or penalty beyond this amount mentioned, no additional payment is needed.
---
### 2. **Using Challan No. 281:**
* TDS/TCS payments must be made using **Challan No. 281** (for TDS/TCS payments). * While paying the amount, ensure:
* Correct **Assessment Year** is mentioned, * Correct **TAN** of deductor, * Relevant **section under which TDS was deducted** is selected, * And enter the **correct amount** as per the notice.
---
### 3. **To whom the cheque should be issued:**
* The cheque/demand draft should be drawn in favor of: **"A.C.C. (TDS)"** or **"Accounts Officer (TDS)"** (This depends on the bank branch where you are depositing; mostly “A.C.C. (TDS)” is accepted.)
* It’s safest to confirm the exact name from the bank or the TDS notice instructions.
---
### Summary:
| Step | Details | | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------ | | Amount to pay | ₹13,500 (full amount mentioned in notice) | | Challan to use | Challan No. 281 | | Cheque in favor of | "A.C.C. (TDS)" or as per bank instructions |

If your client is still unsure, they should visit the TDS department or consult their CA to avoid further interest or penalty.
