Tds deduction on salary paid to govt. employee

This query is : Resolved

09 July 2014 Is it Mandatory for a government deductor to deduct TDS on salary in each and every quarter (or) we can deduct on the whole salary in the last quarter?

If we deduct TDS on salary of government employee in last quarter then for the remaining three quarters a nil return to be filed ?

11 July 2014 Please give me the reply for the above as i am in need of that to file the TDS Q1 return.

27 July 2014 TDS should be deducted every month on proportionate basis and final adjustment to be made in the last month. It is done to reduce the tax burden on employee. If you deduct in last month then some employee might not even get any salary.

So you should always deduct TDS on monthly basis.
