I would like to know whether TDS has to be deducted on payments made to Transporters ? if yes under which section and what rate ??

if transporter of goods provide PAN then no TDS. But if he doesn't then if he is individual or HUF then 1% else 2% till 31-3-10 after this date if PAN is not provided then 20% TDS.
