09 February 2010 I would like to know whether TDS has to be deducted on payments made to Transporters ? if yes under which section and what rate ??

09 February 2010 if transporter of goods provide PAN then no TDS. But if he doesn't then if he is individual or HUF then 1% else 2% till 31-3-10 after this date if PAN is not provided then 20% TDS.
