31 December 2009 A person met an accident & hospitalised. the exp.is huge. so their family has applied to trusts and anyother person who can help them.
They received money from trusts & any other for Medical Treatment.
Whether the contribution received by family is taxable or not???? give reply with relevant section or case laws(if any)

31 December 2009 such assistance doesn't fall within the ambit of section 2(24) i.e. definition of Income. Hence question of exemption doesn't arise.
