31 March 2019 Where exactly the money goes when making online tax payments? Taxes are paid through the website of TIN-NSDL, does that mean nsdl collect tax on behalf of gov or just providing a platform for the payment? in which account they get credited?

01 April 2019 The taxes are collected by 25 prescribed Banks and at 15 centers of RBI. The amount is credited to Income Tax Department who in turn credits to the taxpayers.
