Tax on conveyance allowance received

04 March 2014 Dear Sir/Madam,
My relative received his conveyance allowance pending since 2001.The total allowance per month was Rs.100.Now he received allowance for 156 months i.e Rs.15600.00.
Will it be taxable? Kindly clear my doubt.

04 March 2014 if actual amount spent is less then 15600 then excess not spent is taxable..

Kindly clear one more doubt Rs. 15600/- includes the amount of conveyance allowance for the year 2001 to 2014 i.e. arrear income. Will this arrear income be taxable this year or we can exempt it as conveyance allowance??

04 March 2014 if earlier u havent shown it in salary then yes but if all the amount was actual spent as i replied above then not taxable..
