Tax deducted in singapore

08 July 2011 One of our client is working in singapore and the Employer of Singapore has deducted tax of $1000 from salary. So if the assessee is a resident in India, can he claim deduction of such tax in his Income tax return? If yes then whether it can be shown as T.D.S. or Advance Tax.

09 July 2011 Global income of a resident of India is taxable in India u/s 5. However if any taxes are borne on the same income abroad credit shall be available u/s 90.

09 July 2011 the said amount shall be shown as TDS in terms of sec. 90 read with DTAA of India with Singapore.
