n case the applicant's address changes to a different city and the new address falls under different RCC (Regional Computer Center of Income Tax Department) then applicant needs to apply for a new TAN in Form no. 49B.

Here’s what’s going on with TAN changes due to name and address updates:
---
### Change in TAN due to Name and Address Change:
* **If only the Company Name changes:**
* Usually, the TAN **remains the same**. * You need to intimate the Income Tax Department about the name change using **Form 49B (Correction Form)**.
* **If the Address changes but stays within the same city and RCC jurisdiction:**
* TAN **does not change**. * Intimation can be made via **Form 49B** for updating address details.
* **If the Address changes and the new address falls under a different RCC (Regional Computer Centre):**
* You **need to apply for a new TAN**. * The old TAN becomes invalid, and a new TAN will be allotted.
---
### Why did you get a new TAN even though the city remained the same?
* Sometimes, the Income Tax department’s RCC boundaries might have changed. * Or the address details may have caused system to treat it as different jurisdiction. * It could also be a processing error or procedural update by the department.
---
### What you should do:
* Verify the RCC jurisdiction for the updated address. * If it is indeed the same RCC, you can write to the department or your TAN service provider to clarify. * For corrections, always use **Form 49B** to update details without requesting a new TAN unnecessarily.

If you want, I can help draft a letter or guide you to the official forms for correction. Would you like that?
