Suspended GSTIN

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If your GSTIN has been suspended because you haven't filed your returns, it won't reactivate automatically just by filing the missing ones. You must first file all pending GST returns. Then, you need to apply for the revocation of suspension using Form GST REG-21 within 30 days. Your proper officer will review your application, and if approved, your GSTIN will be reactivated.

26 June 2021 File all your returns and meet your jurisdiction officer.

26 July 2025 When a GSTIN is suspended due to non-filing of returns, it does NOT get automatically activated just by filing the pending returns.

What to do to get GSTIN activated after suspension?
File all pending GST returns immediately to clear the backlog. This is mandatory.

After filing returns, the taxpayer must apply for revocation of suspension of GST registration using Form GST REG-21 within 30 days from the date of suspension.

The proper officer will then review the application and either approve the revocation or reject it.

Once approved, the GSTIN will be activated again.

Key points:
Suspension is different from cancellation. Suspension is temporary and can be revoked.

If no application for revocation is filed within 30 days of suspension, the registration may be cancelled.

So timely filing of returns and applying for revocation is critical.

Summary:
Step Action
1 File all pending GST returns
2 Apply for revocation in REG-21
3 Officer reviews and approves
4 GSTIN activated again
