29 March 2015 I have filed IT return for 2012-13 through a practitioner on 16.08.12 online.Erroneously,I forwarded the hard copy of ITR 5 without signature. After a long time, I came to know that sign was missing.Again I had submitted duly signed. The status was shown as received after due date. When I enquired with CPC toll free, they have told to contact concerned IT ward.I met the concerned in IT ward and they have told that the file is not redirected to them from CPC,Bangalore.Unless the file is not redirected to them, they can not do anything. Then, I have submitted a letter along with ITR 5 to Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, CPC Bangalore duly requesting for needful action to process my file on 16.03.2015.When I checked the status, still it is shown as submitted after due date.Kindly advice me how to approach to get my refund.

26 July 2025 This is a frustrating situation, but here’s what you can do to move forward on your **ITR-5 for AY 2012-13** which is still showing “submitted after due date” and not processed:

### Steps to take:

1. **Check Acknowledgment and Response Status Online**

* Use your **ITR-V acknowledgment number** on the Income Tax e-filing portal to track if any processing has happened or if a notice has been issued.

2. **Follow up with CPC Bangalore**

* Since you have already written to CPC Bangalore, send a **written reminder/follow-up letter** referencing your earlier letter dated 16.03.2015.
* You may also send a **courier with delivery proof** or visit in person, if possible, to expedite.

3. **Contact the Assessing Officer (AO)**

* If the CPC has not forwarded your case, try to locate the AO responsible for your PAN for AY 2012-13.
* Visit the local Income Tax Office or check on the Income Tax Portal to identify your AO and request their intervention.

4. **File a Grievance on the Income Tax e-Nivaran portal**

* Go to [https://e-nivaran.incometax.gov.in/](https://e-nivaran.incometax.gov.in/)
* File a grievance regarding non-processing of your ITR and delay in refund.
* This often helps escalate the issue to higher authorities.

5. **RTI Application (If needed)**

* If no satisfactory response comes within reasonable time, file an RTI application asking about the status of your refund and processing of ITR for AY 2012-13.
* This sometimes speeds up the resolution.

6. **Professional help**

* If the issue persists, consider consulting a Chartered Accountant or Tax Practitioner who can draft formal communications or represent you before the tax authorities.

---

### Important tips:

* Keep copies of **all communications, acknowledgments, letters, and responses**.
* Always send important letters by **registered post or courier** to have proof.
* Check your **email and SMS** for any notices or communications from the Income Tax department.

---

If you want, I can help you draft a follow-up letter to CPC Bangalore or guide you on filing a grievance on e-Nivaran. Would you like that?
