STAY PETITION U/S.220(6) OF THE I.T.ACT, 1961

11 February 2010 Respected Sir,

I am in ambiguity that if stay petition is not granted by Assessing Officer then I would like to be informed that to whom first appeal is to be preferred for granting stay and time limit for filing appeal.

Further, I would also like to be infomed regarding hierarchy for futher appeal in the matter of stay.

Anticipating your expert advise in this regard.

11 February 2010 First appeal may be preferred to Commissioner of Income tax (Appeals).
Hierarchy of appeals is as follows:-
1)CIT(Appeals).
2)Income tax Appellate Tribunal.
3)High Court.
4)Supreme Court.
